The water level control system is solar-powered, allowing users to replenish water to the evaporation pan via water supply systems such as reservoirs or municipal pipelines. The accompanying data logger can be programmed for measurement and recording intervals, with signal processing capabilities including averages, maximums, and minimums. Optional additions include a water temperature sensor and a range of meteorological sensors to determine the relationship between evaporation and local environmental conditions—essential for evaporation research, evapotranspiration studies, and model development. Remote transmission equipment is also available to transfer data from the data logger to a remote host via wired, satellite phone, or wireless communication connections.
