TFAM (transcription factor A, mitochondrial)encodes a key mitochondrial transcription factor containing two high mobility group motifs. The encoded protein also functions in mitochondrial DNA replication and repair. Sequence polymorphisms in TFAM are associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. There are pseudogenes for TFAM on chromosomes 6, 7, and 11. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
mtTFA Polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of mtTFA protein.
Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator. Suggested starting dilutions are as follows: IHC-p: 1:100-1:300, IF: 1:200-1:1000, ELISA: 1:20000. Not yet tested in other applications.
