LYN encodes a tyrosine protein kinase (LYN proto-oncogene, Src family tyrosine kinase), which maybe involved in the regulation of mast cell degranulation, and erythroid differentiation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for LYN.
