SBDS (SBDS Ribosome Maturation Factor) is ubiquitously expressed in heart, fat and other tissues. SBDS is required for mature ribosome assembly and ribosome biogenesis and is required for 60S rRNA processing and nuclear export. SBDS plays a role in cellular response to DNA damage, cellular stress resistance, and cell proliferation. SBDS is related to rRNA binding and some diseases, including Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome 1 and Aplastic Anemia.
