Cardiac Troponin I is a regulatory protein specifically expressed in the heart. It is one of the three subunits that constitute the troponin complex in striated muscle, mediating cardiac relaxation by inhibiting the binding of myosin and actin during muscle contraction. cTnI exhibits high myocardial specificity, being expressed exclusively in cardiac tissue. This feature endows it with exceptional accuracy in diagnosing myocardial injury. cTnI is also highly sensitive to myocardial damage, rapidly releasing into the bloodstream upon injury, allowing for its detection.
