Description
Herceptin (trastuzumab) is a humanized IgG1 kappa monoclonal antibody that selectively binds with high affinity to the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 protein, HER2. Trastuzumab is produced by recombinant DNA technology in a mammalian cell (Chinese Hamster Ovary) culture containing the antibiotic gentamicin. Gentamicin is not detectable in the final product.
Trastuzumab is a sterile, clear, colorless liquid of pH approximately 6.0, which may contain a small amount of easily visible, white, amorphous trastuzumab particulates. trastuzumab is supplied at a concentration of 21 mg/mL, which contains 19.09 mg/mL α,α-trehalose dihydrate, 0.475 mg/mL L-histidine HCl monohydrate, 0.305 mg/mL L-histidine, and 0.085 mg/mL polysorbate 20, Water for Injection, and no preservatives.
