SPATA6 (Spermatogenesis Associated 6) is a Protein Coding gene. An important paralog of this gene is SPATA6L. It required for formation of the sperm connecting piece during spermiogenesis. Sperm connecting piece is essential for linking the developing flagellum to the head during late spermiogenesis. May be involved in myosin-based microfilament transport through interaction with myosin subunits.
Human Spermatogenesis-associated protein 6 (SPATA6) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SPATA6 in samples. An antibody specific for SPATA6 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anySPATA6 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SPATA6 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SPATA6 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
