MYC-induced nuclear antigen (MINA) has alternative names:Histone lysine demethylase MINA, Ribosomal oxygenase 2(RIOX2),Oxygenase that can act as both a histone lysine demethylase and a ribosomal histidine hydroxylase. Is involved in the demethylation of trimethylated 'Lys-9' on histone H3 (H3K9me3), leading to an increase in ribosomal RNA expression. Also catalyzes the hydroxylation of 60S ribosomal protein L27a on 'His-39'. May play an important role in cell growth and survival. May be involved in ribosome biogenesis, most likely during the assembly process of pre-ribosomal particles.This protein acts as an enzyme. It is known to catalyze the following reaction : L-histidine-[60S ribosomal protein L27a] + 2-oxoglutarate + O(2) = (3S)-3-hydroxy-L-histidine-[60S ribosomal protein L27a] + succinate + CO(2).
Bovine MYC-induced nuclear antigen (MINA) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MINA in samples. An antibody specific for MINA has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMINA present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MINA is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MINA bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
