Bigneat's BCAS controlled atmosphere storage system with dry/nitrogen gas environment is ideal for storing valuable specimens, moisture sensitive substances and chemical compounds. It is ideally suited for storing Compound Libraries.
The moisture-free environment is maintained using nitrogen gas and the atmosphere is controlled by feedback from O2 sensors to a MMI/PLC controller. This operates solenoid valves which control nitrogen inlet valves purging each storage compartment independently and also switching valves for extraction. An extractor fan exhausts via ducting to the outside of the building.
Safe for operators
With the potential for release of N2 gas into the room when accessing the storage compartments it is imperative that a room situated oxygen sensors monitors ambient air.
Technical: External sensor is connected into pair of terminals in control system. A relay is set to closed when O2 levels are safe and opens when levels become unsafe, an alarm is triggered and N2injection is stopped.
Applications
- Storage of moisture or oxygen sensitive substances & compounds
- Storage of valuable specimens
- Storage of Compound Library
Storage shelf format
Typical use is for 96-Well format or 384 Standard Well plates (capacity max 20 plates per tray, total = 1,980) or Deep-well format microplates and/or 96-Well Tube Storage format (capacity max 120 plates per tray, total = 840).
Key features
·Alarm system and N2 inlet isolation solenoid for protecting operators
·Compartments are separately controlled and purged independently to minimise exposure of samples to room air during retrieval
·Automatic N2 purge when doors are closed
