The PTEN gene encodes the phosphatase and tensin homolog protein that plays a role in multiple cell processes, including growth, proliferation, survival, and maintenance of genomic integrity. Mutations of this gene are a step in the development of many cancers. PTEN is one of the most commonly lost tumor suppressors in human cancer. Frequent genetic inactivation of PTEN occurs in glioblastoma, endometrial cancer, and prostate cancer; and reduced expression is found in many other tumor types such as lung and breast cancer.
Empire Genomics has developed a custom PTEN probe which can be used to detect/confirm a rearrangement of the PTEN gene. The probe comes labeled in orange and generally ships within 24 hours. You can choose to customize the probe to meet your needs, which will ship right after production of the probe is complete (approximately 1 week).
