Introduction
Fumonisin (FB) is a secondary metabolite produced by F.moniliforme and F.proliferatum under certain temperature and humidity. FB is a kind of carcinogenic substance to human and livestock. It can cause the damage of Hepatic function and renal function, as well as the brain white matter softening and swine edema disease, etc.
Detection Principle
This assay is based on the antigen-antibody reaction. The plastic microwells have been coated with FB antigen, when we add the calibrators/samples, FB antibody solutions and enzyme conjugate to the FB antigen coated microtiter plate, the calibrators/samples and the FB antigen compete for the limited number of the FB antibody binding sites. So the amount of FB antibody that is able to bind to the microtiter plate will be inversely proportional to the concentration of the calibrators or FB from the samples. By the effect of the chromogenic substrate, they become to a blue product. The absorption value is inversely proportional to the FB concentration in the calibrators /samples.
Range of Application
Qualitatively and quantitatively detect FB in cereal grains such as wheat, corn and feed.
