INTRODUCTIONS
PT14(Bremelanotide), is a metabolite of melanotan II that lacks the C-terminal amide function.The peptide structure is almost indentical to the endogenously produced melanocyte-stimulating hormone. PT141 is an agonist of the melanocortin-1 receptor which is located on melanocyte cells but it does not bind well to any other receptors.
The drug has been undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of sexual arousal disorder and erectile dysfunction. It is intended for both men and women. Bremelanotide does not act upon the vascular system, but directly increases sexual desire via the nervous system.
