Cardiolipin antibodies (CA) are seen in a subgroup of patients with autoimmune disorders, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), who are at risk for vascular thrombosis, thrombocytopenia, cerebral infarct and/or recurrent spontaneous abortion. Elevations of CA associated with increased risk have also been seen in idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, and primary Sjögren's syndrome.
Rat Anti-cardiolipin IgG antibody (ACA-IgG) ELISA Kit employs the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to ACA-IgG. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated ACA-IgG and incubated. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled ACA-IgG and unlabeled ACA-IgG with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of ACA-IgG in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
