MKRN2 encodes a probable E3 ubiquitin ligase containing several zinc finger domains, that is a member of the makorin RING zinc-finger protein family. MKRN2 overlaps the v-raf-1 murine leukemia viral oncogene homolog 1 (RAF1) gene in an antisense orientation and may have a co-regulatory function with RAF1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Mouse Probable E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase makorin-2 (MKRN2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MKRN2 in samples. An antibody specific for MKRN2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMKRN2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MKRN2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MKRN2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
