Zika virus (ZIKV) is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae.[3] It is spread by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes, such as A. aegypti and A. albopictus. Its name comes from the Zika Forest of Uganda, where the virus was first isolated in 1947. Zika virus is related to the dengue, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, and West Nile viruses. Since the 1950s, it has been known to occur within a narrow equatorial belt from Africa to Asia. From 2007 to 2016, the virus spread eastward, across the Pacific Ocean to the Americas, leading to the 2015–16 Zika virus epidemic.
Human Zika Virus IgG antibody (ZV-Ab-IgG) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ZV-Ab-IgG in samples. An antibody specific for ZV-Ab-IgG has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyZV-Ab-IgG present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ZV-Ab-IgG is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ZV-Ab-IgG bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
