EpiCypher Launches Fiber-seq Kit to Democratize Single-Molecule Chromatin Mapping

Hits:33   Date: 11/12/2025
DURHAM, NC, November 11, 2025 / Biotech Newswire / -- EpiCypher®, a leader in chromatin biology and epigenetics, today announced the launch of its CUTANA® Fiber-seq Kit and the exclusive licensing of key Fiber-seq technology from the Altius Institute for Biomedical Sciences. This milestone marks a major step toward making advanced chromatin fiber mapping technology accessible to researchers around the world.

Fiber-seq, developed at Altius by Drs. John A. Stamatoyannopoulos and Andrew B. Stergachis, is a breakthrough single-molecule sequencing method that reveals how DNA and chromatin are organized and regulated. By simultaneously profiling chromatin accessibility, DNA methylation, protein footprints, and genetic variation along individual DNA molecules, Fiber-seq provides an unprecedented, multiomic view of genome function.

The new EpiCypher CUTANA Fiber-seq Kit provides all essential reagents to take samples from cells to purified genomic DNA ready for library preparation and is fully compatible with both PacBio and Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing platforms. The kit simplifies the complete Fiber-seq workflow, lowering barriers to adoption and ensuring consistent, high-quality results. It leverages EpiCypher’s exclusive Hia5 enzyme, a highly active, low-bias adenine methyltransferase, which enables precise and reproducible labeling of chromatin accessibility across the genome.

This product launch builds on EpiCypher’s earlier release of the Hia5 enzyme and Fiber-seq services, further expanding access to the technology and providing researchers with a complete solution, from reagents and experimental support to long-read sequencing analysis.

“Fiber-seq is transforming how we connect genetic variation to epigenetic signatures that define gene regulation, drug response, and disease,” said Martis Cowles, Chief Business Officer, EpiCypher. “By providing a single-molecule view of chromatin structure and methylation, this technology offers a powerful new platform for drug development and diagnostic discovery, linking the genome’s sequence to its functional output for the first time.”

Through a growing collaboration, EpiCypher and PacBio are helping researchers adopt Fiber-seq by combining advanced chromatin biochemistry with highly accurate long-read sequencing. Early enthusiasm from the long-read sequencing community underscores Fiber-seq’s potential to illuminate new aspects of genome and epigenome function.

“The Fiber-seq kit from EpiCypher is an exciting demonstration of how PacBio’s highly accurate long-read sequencing can deliver unparalleled insight into both the genome and epigenome,” said Dave Miller, Vice President Global Marketing, PacBio. “We’re excited that EpiCypher is expanding access to this innovation and offering Fiber-seq services using PacBio’s Revio sequencer. Together, we are enabling researchers to unlock deeper biological understanding with a single, comprehensive multiomic assay that goes beyond just 5-base sequencing.”
