RayBiotech introduces RayBio® Human Apoptosis Antibody Array

Hits:2624   Date: 11/4/2009

RayBiotech, the Protein Array Pioneer Company, has just introduced the RayBio® Human Apoptosis Antibody Array, which can detect 43 different apoptotic proteins with picogram-per-milliliter (pg/ml) sensitivity. Apoptosis is the process of programmed cell death that involves a series of biochemical events leading to a characteristic cell morphology and, ultimately, cell death. Apoptotic proteins regulate cell termination, homeostasis, development and lymphocyte interactions, and deregulation of apoptosis has been implicated in many diseases such as coronary artery disease, HIV infection and cancer.

The RayBio® Human Apoptosis array kit is available for purchase immediately in both membrane and glass-slide array formats (AAH-APO-1 and AAH-APO-G1, respectively).  The kit consists of the arrays and all reagents necessary for detecting these proteins in cell and tissue lysates. This array also features detection of GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate dehydrogenase) as a loading control indicator for cell lysates tested with the array.

RayBio® membrane arrays have been featured in literally hundreds of biomedical research reports, including publications in Nature, Nature Medicine, Cell, Lancet, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, and other top-tier biomedical and scientific journals. These arrays use chemiluminescence detection and require no more specialized equipment than that needed for Western Blotting.

The glass-slide array format uses fluorescence detection and, as such, requires a generic gene microarray scanner, such as a GenePix. Other fluorescence detectors including GE Healthcare’s Typhoon or Li-Cor’s Odyssey can also be used to detect the fluorescent signal of the glass-slide arrays. Fluorescence detection allows for a greater dynamic range of signals and a smaller sample volume.

"This array detects many of the most commonly used markers for apoptosis,” said Wayne Jiang, RayBiotech’s Director of Research and Development, “and it contains antibodies to detect several key factors that are not included on similar arrays from our competitors, including antibodies for TRAIL receptors, Insulin-like growth factors and related proteins.”

Antibodies detecting the following proteins are included in this kit:
