Millipore Introduces FlowCellect™ — Industry’s First Flow Cytometry Kits for Stem Cell Analysis

Millipore Corporation (NYSE:MIL), a life science leader providing technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, today announced an industry first: six new flow cytometry kits to make stem cell research faster, easier and more accurate than ever before. With these robust, three-parameter FlowCellect kits, scientists can easily assess embryonic and neural stem cell phenotypes at various stages of differentiation.

Such accuracy and ease of use give scientists a vital advantage in their research, according to Jason Whalley, Millipore senior product manager for cell biology: “These flow cytometry kits are designed to eliminate the need for researchers to spend valuable time on assay development. They can now quickly and accurately obtain the data they need to advance their research.”

Stem cells offer great potential for cell-based therapies and developmental biology research. However, to ensure the success of any experiment, stem cells must first be thoroughly characterized.

"Millipore’s new stem cell kits help characterization by analyzing stem cell phenotypes and tracking the progress of differentiation down various lineages,” explained Whalley. “The kits are optimized for use on the Guava EasyCyte™ Plus system.”

In March of this year, Millipore and Hayward, Calif.-based Guava Technologies, Inc. announced a long-term partnership to deliver integrated flow cytometry solutions to scientists conducting research in cell biology, including stem cell research. These new stem cell kits are the first developed by Millipore’s research team in Temecula, Calif.
