New posters highlight developments in fluorescent nucleotide probe synthesis
BELLSHILL, SCOTLAND, 23 July 2012: Link Technologies Ltd, an ISO 9001:2008 certified specialist oligonucleotide reagent manufacturer, is pleased to make available recently presented research posters discussing dye and quencher phosphoramidites and CPG solid supports for oligonucleotide synthesis. This is following their generation of significant interest at the first international conference on Fluorescent Biomolecules and their Building Blocks - Design and Applications (Göteborg, Sweden, 5
th-8th July). The two posters are
free to download from the ‘Knowledge Base’ section of the Link Technologies website.
The first poster, “
A new non-fluorescent quencher for use in oligonucleotide synthesis”, describes the creation of a new quencher to ease the preparation of probes for use in assays where the fluorophore emits in the 550 to 600nm range. Entitled “
Cyanine functionalised solid supports for oligonucleotide synthesis”, the second poster discusses the benefits of incorporating cyanine dyes at the 3’ end of an oligonucleotide via the use of solid CPG supports. The greatest advantage of the method is that it eliminates the need for post-synthetic labelling onto an oligonucleotide modified with an amino linker at the 3’ end. Dual cyanine dye labelled probes (i.e. cyanine 540/cyanine 650) are especially useful for detecting DNA-protein interactions using FRET.
Link Technologies’
extensive range of products includes a wide choice of phosphoramidites and CPG solid supports for synthesising oligonucleotides. These include those labelled with
fluorescent dyes such as TAMRA (rhodamine), fluorescein (including 6-FAM, HEX and TET) and Quasar™ Dyes, as well as the dark quenchers dabcyl, Deep Dark Quencher 1 and the Black Hole Quenchers™.
