CHINA-PHARM Builds Premier Integrated Platform
to Facilitate Chinese Pharmaceutical Industry Upgrading for New GMP
The Chinese Good Manufacturing Practice for Pharmaceutical Products (hereinafter referred to as the new GMP) was announced on February 12 and has been implemented from March 1 2011. It will have great influence on the competitive landscape in Chinese pharmaceutical industry over the next five years. The new GMP in China is deemed as an opportunity and challenge for the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. As a renowned platform for information communication and exchange of GMP, CHINA-PHARM 2011 will be held from October 25 to 28 2011 in Shanghai New International Expo Center in China, to accelerate the process of new GMP realizing in China.
CHINA-PHARM has become the famous pharmaceutical trade fair in Asia for its influences, authoritativeness and reputation. In its last staging on October 29 2010, it attracted 349 famous exhibitors from 22 countries and regions, of whom over 64% were international exhibitors, in an exhibiting space of 22,000 m2. There were 15,000 visits from 35 countries and regions, and 9% of them came from overseas. The concurrent 2010 ISPE-CCPIE China Conference, 2010 Pharmaceutical Equipment and Technology Annual Conference and 2010 Pharmaceutical Excipients Annual Conference were also well received by trade players present at the exhibition.
Since Mar, 2011, CHINA-PHARM 2011 has launched its exhibitor recruitment officially. Within one week, 70% of the whole exhibition hall has been reserved, with W5 Hall (10,000m2 ) booked out . Under the influence of the new GMP, pharmaceutical companies from domestic and abroad positively take part in CHINA-PHARM 2011.
The New GMP has Profound Influence on the Future Trends of Chinese Pharmaceutical Industry
The new GMP has referred to GMP certification standard in the United States and Europe, with higher entry qualification and stricter requirement on software and hardware of pharmaceutical enterprises in China. It accelerates the speed of industrial structure adjustment and development; meanwhile it improves the whole level of pharmaceutical industry and quality of drugs. What’s more, it will have great influence on the competitive landscape in Chinese pharmaceutical industry over the next five years.
It is deemed that the launching of the new GMP will surely boost integration and upgrading of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. According to the statistics, there are over 4,500 medium and small scaled pharmaceutical manufacturers in China. It is estimated by the expert and government official that the total investment on hardware will amount 30 to 50 billion US dollars if all the pharmaceutical players meet new GMP standard. Furthermore, the new GMP has detailed requirement on the application and management of raw materials, excipients and packaging materials, including label management and materials etc.

CHINA-PHARM has been supported by several internationally influential foreign organizations including International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council (IPEC) and VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association etc.
During the core period of industrial upgrading, CHINA-PHARM will provide premier communication platform to offer more services and business opportunities for trade players and international exhibitors. Based on the experience of last editions and market trends, CHINA-PHARM will set up customized special zones for pharmaceutical packaging equipment, excipients and packaging materials, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and etc to highlight equipment and technologies which meet the requirement of the new GMP.
According to relevant experts, pharmaceutical enterprises have to increase the fineness of management to meet the requirement of the new GMP and have control on the whole quality management process including raw material and excipients sourcing, production, logistics and end use. To adapt the new GMP and pharmacopoeia, enterprises are in need of great information support.
