Antagonist G is a substance P analog, which is a broad spectrum neuropeptide growth factor antagonist and antiproliferative agent. It was developed for the treatment of small cell lung cancer. It could inhibit neuropeptide-dependent and -independent proliferation of small cell lung cancer in vitro. It also inhibits growth of SCLC xenografts in mice in vivo. It blocks Swiss 3T3 cell growth induced by vasopressin, gastrin-releasing peptide and bradykinin. It activates JNK and stimulates apoptosis.
