Firefly Luciferase is a general term for enzymes that produce biofluorescence in nature. Luciferase can catalyze the oxidation of luciferin to the oxidation of luciferin, in the process of luciferin oxidation, will emit bioluminescence. Fly flic luciferase is an enzyme isolated from beetles.
 
Principle
The luminescence reaction catalyzed by luciferase is completed in the presence of ATP and luciferin. The chemical reaction is:
 
Luciferin + ATP +O₂ = Oxyluciferin + AMP + PPi + CO₂ + Light
