Overview The three-phase disc centrifuge is a piece of equipment designed for the separation of liquid-liquid-solid three-phase mixtures. It is widely utilized in various industries—including oils and fats, petrochemicals, biotechnology, pigments, and food processing—for applications such as milk skimming and clarification in the dairy sector; the removal of water and mechanical impurities from fuel oil, diesel, and similar substances in mineral oil separation; the extraction of antibiotics, vitamins, and other compounds in the pharmaceutical industry; and the separation of oil, water, and sludge in environmental protection applications. Working principle The centrifuge primarily consists of an inlet/outlet assembly, a rotating bowl, a machine cover, a vertical shaft, and a horizontal shaft. The rotating bowl houses a stack of conical discs. The feed material enters through a central inlet pipe at the top, flows down to the bottom of the bowl, and then—guided by distribution holes located on the underside of the discs—moves outward toward the bowl wall. Under the influence of centrifugal force, the solid phase (being denser than the liquid phases) settles against the inner wall of the bowl, forming a layer of sludge. The light liquid phase flows along the outer conical surfaces of the discs toward the central axis, where it is discharged upward via a light-phase centripetal pump. Conversely, the heavy liquid phase flows along the inner conical surfaces of the discs toward the bowl wall, then flows upward to be discharged via a heavy-phase centripetal pump, thereby completing the three-phase separation process.
