    Product Specification
For researchers and laboratories focused on quantifying human Interleukin-11 (IL-11)—a critical cytokine involved in inflammation, tissue repair, hematopoiesis, and pathological processes like cancer progression and fibrosis—the Human IL-11 One-Step ELISA Kit from Antbio Inc. delivers a streamlined, high-performance tool to simplify cytokine detection workflows. Ideal for both basic research and translational studies, this kit eliminates complexity while ensuring reliable, reproducible results you can trust.

Human IL-11 plays a pivotal role in regulating immune responses, promoting cell survival, and driving tissue remodeling—making its accurate quantification essential for studies in oncology, immunology, and regenerative medicine. Antbio’s Human IL-11 One-Step ELISA Kit is engineered with a simplified “one-step” format that reduces hands-on time: unlike traditional ELISA protocols requiring separate incubation steps for primary and secondary antibodies, this kit integrates key reagents to streamline the process, without compromising sensitivity or specificity. It specifically detects human IL-11 in biological samples (such as serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants) with a wide dynamic range, enabling precise quantification even at low cytokine concentrations. Every component, from pre-coated plates to optimized detection reagents, undergoes rigorous quality control to minimize batch-to-batch variation and ensure consistent performance.

Designed for usability across all skill levels, the kit includes a detailed, user-friendly protocol that guides you through sample preparation, incubation, washing, and signal measurement—compatible with standard microplate readers. Whether you’re running high-throughput experiments or small-scale analyses, this kit saves valuable time on troubleshooting, letting you focus on interpreting data and advancing your research.

    Background

IL-11 was discovered in 1990 and first described as a hematopoietic factor that stimulates plasmacytoma proliferation and megakaryocyte formation. The dependence of IL-11 on the ubiquitously expressed receptor gp130 designates IL-11 as a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines. IL-6 family cytokines have been shown to bind to gp130 alone, although the accepted mode of signaling requires the interaction of cytokines with a specific, high-affinity receptor subunit (alpha chain) prior to binding to gp130. The gp130 receptor subsequently triggers a number of different pathways, including canonical JAK/STAT signaling, as well as ERK and AKT Loss-of-function mutations in IL-6 family cytokines or receptors result in a diverse set of genetic disorders of varying severity, which suggests nonredundant and distinct biological functions of members of this cytokine family. In the lung, IL-11 receptor subunit alpha (IL11RA) is highly expressed on cells such as fibroblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, and epithelial cells. These cell types are central for both acute and chronic diseases of the lung/respiratory tract. This receptor expression pattern differentiates IL11RA from the IL-6 receptor, which is most highly expressed on immune cells, including monocytes and tissue-resident macrophages.
