NANOS2 (Nanos C2HC-Type Zinc Finger 2) is a Protein Coding gene. GO annotations related to this gene include mRNA binding. An important paralog of this gene is NANOS3. Plays a key role in the sexual differentiation of germ cells by promoting the male fate but suppressing the female fate. Represses the female fate pathways by suppressing meiosis, which in turn results in the promotion of the male fate. Maintains the suppression of meiosis by preventing STRA8 expression, which is required for premeiotic DNA replication, after CYP26B1 is decreased. Regulates the localization of the CCR4-NOT deadenylation complex to P-bodies and plays a role in recruiting the complex to trigger the degradation of mRNAs involved in meiosis. Required for the maintenance of the spermatogonial stem cell population. Not essential for the assembly of P-bodies but is required for the maintenance of their normal state (By similarity).

Human Nanos homolog 2 (NANOS2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate NANOS2 in samples. An antibody specific for NANOS2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyNANOS2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for NANOS2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of NANOS2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
