Immortalized Human Podocytes are podocytes isolated from urine samples from healthy donor, and had been transformation with the thermosensitive SV40 large T antigen (U19tsA58) together with human telomerase (hTERT). The cells retained their primary cell characteristics with podocyte markers WT1, synaptopodin, and nestin. The urinary podocytes can be cultured for long-term and is a valuable tool for studies relating to pathogenesis and mechanisms of podocyte injury.
