Be a cut above with new RNA tools for CRISPR/Cas9

IDT Webinar Describes New and Optimized Tools for More Efficient Genome EditingCORALVILLE, IA (September 30, 2015) – Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) will host an informative webinar, entitled ‘New RNA Tools for Optimized CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing’, on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. Ashley Jacobi, a scientist in the Molecular Genetics Applied Research Group at IDT, and an expert in the application of synthetic nucleic acids, will present the webinar at 9 am and 1 pm Central Standard Time. The webinar will explain how IDT has developed and optimized these new tools and show how researchers can benefit from using the 2-part RNA system over other technologies.

The use of the CRISPR/Cas9 system for genetic modification is transforming research across organisms, from bacteria to human cells. The sgRNA (single guide RNA)-based system is now one of the leading tools for genome editing, yet it has a number of drawbacks. Now, following extensive research, IDT has developed new RNA tools that optimize the natural 2-part RNA CRISPR/Cas9 system. Designed for more efficient delivery and cutting, without major alterations to current protocols, the enhanced crRNA (CRISPR RNA) and tracrRNA (trans-activating crRNA) tools improve success rates in genome editing. This webinar provides a review of IDT’s research and development of these new tools ahead of their impending product launch. Attendees will learn how these components are generated, and gain an insight into their strengths over existing tools and techniques to make genome editing more effective and cost-efficient in their own research.
