Production is now complete for the 2nd Annual Stem Cell Congress and co-located Cell & Gene Therapy Congress and 4th Annual Cell Culture & Bioprocessing Congress taking place on the 9th & 10th November 2015 in London. You can now download the final conference programme here to view who is speaking across the two days.
The Stem Cell Congress will give attendees the opportunity to hear from those at the forefront of stem cell research share their knowledge on current challenges and exciting developments, as well as the insights into the future of the industry. Over two days, the congress will attract senior-level decision makers working at the cutting edge of the stem cell industry from the US and Europe. The programme consists of world-class keynote addresses, industry and academic led presentations and panel debates, as well as ample networking opportunities, creating an ideal interactive platform for highlevel scientific and business discussion.
Our Congress will cover 2 interactive streams:
● Stem Cell & iPSC Bioprocessing and Manufacturing
● Stem Cell Therapy inc. Clinical & Commercialisation
Oxford Global interviewed Francesco Saverio Tedesco, Senior Research Associate at UCL’s Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and a confirmed speaker of the Congress.
You are speaking on the Developing A Human iPSC-Based Platform Of Muscle Differentiation at the Congress this year. What are you expecting to see from the stem cell industry over the next few years?
“My gut feeling in terms of industry and commercial development is that there will be a lot going on in the upcoming years. I think that we’ll see more and more compounds and drugs going to the market thanks to drug screening platforms developed using induced pluripotent stem cells. This is not direct commercialisation of stem cells as a product, but stem cells are essential for the development of these compounds. It would probably be less straightforward to commercialise cell therapies, although there are models to do this, and I think industry/academia partnerships will become more and more common. Centres of excellence can, together with big pharma, develop joint products that can initially be tested in those centres and then, ideally, commercialised if possible […]”
There will be over 40 speakers presenting across the two days including:
● John Harrington, Chief Scientific Officer, Athersys
● Stewart Abbot, Vice President Translational Research, Fate Therapeutics
● Jasmin Kee, Head of Engineering, ReNeuron
● Roger Grau, Fellow, Cell Therapy, Novartis
● Dusko Ilic, Reader in Stem Cell Science, King’s College London
