analytica Vietnam: Globalization on the Mekong

Hits:1404   Date: 8/27/2014
Vietnam is a country whose markets rely on imports—some quite strongly—and must therefore increasingly deal with the challenges of globalization. Topics such as reliable quality controls for food and medications are taking center stage. At analytica Vietnam, which takes place in Ho Chi Minh City from April 15–17, 2015, exhibitors will present products and solutions for these and other sectors. These topics will also be the focus of the accompanying analytica Vietnam Conference.

Several of Vietnam's rapidly growing branches of industry such as the food or pharmaceutical industries depend on imports. However, as recent events have shown, not all imported products are of high quality: Important contaminated fat as well as pesticide residues on fruit are upsetting the population and calling quality and hygiene standards into question. The pharmaceutical industry also relies heavily on imports. 53 percent of pharma products sold in 2013 were from abroad. And the majority of Vietnam's pharma manufacturers import most of the needed active ingredients and excipients (worth 308 millions US dollars in 2013).

Controlling and analyzing the quality and level of hygiene of imported products—as well as those produced at home—calls for reliable, high-quality laboratory and analysis instruments. In large areas of Vietnam, there is also a shortage of sufficient mechanisms for safe sewage disposal combined with a shortage of drinking water: Modern water analysis can help to solve this problem. Domestic and international exhibitors will present solutions at analytica Vietnam.

The analytica Vietnam Conference, which takes place at the same time as the fair, allows scientists and experts from around the world to explain the latest methods and approaches in the sectors for food analysis, pharmaceuticals, environmental analysis, chromatography and mass spectrometry.
