BIOTECHNICA 2013 (8–10 October):
         –         Meeting place for experts in the bio-based economy
         –         BiobasedWorld Partnering on 8 and 9 October
         –         Presentations and discussions on 10 October
Hannover, Germany. BIOTECHNICA 2013 showcases the bio-economy, and its BiobasedWorld platform offers a meeting place for players in the bio sector to come together from 8 to 10 October. “With BiobasedWorld, we want to make the bio-economy visible across the board, and help players across sectors and disciplines to network together,” says Dr. Jochen Köckler, Member of Deutsche Messe’s Managing Board in Hannover. BiobasedWorld at BIOTECHNICA is organized jointly by Deutsche Messe, DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology and DECHEMA Ausstellungs-GmbH.
BiobasedWorld invites experts from all bio-economy fields to learn about new technical developments and locate cooperation partners. “Biomass suppliers, technology suppliers, manufacturers of bio-based products, process developers and scientists with market-ready ideas – they can all make contacts and develop ideas together at BiobasedWorld,” explains Dr. Kurt Wagemann, CEO of DECHEMA.
BiobasedWorld Partnering on 8 and 9 October 2013 provides opportunities to make contacts and discuss topics. An internet platform supports targeted searches for discussion partners before the event, as well as hosting technology offers and searches. Meetings can also be set up through the system. During BIOTECHNICA, participants then meet in the Partnering area to explore their shared interests together. “We have had very good experience with BiobasedWorld Partnering in the past, and are convinced that BIOTECHNICA offers an outstanding setting for this offer,” says Dr. Thomas Scheuring, CEO of DECHEMA Ausstellungs-GmbH.
On 10 October 2013, BiobasedWorld sheds light on a promising area for the future of the bio-economy in presentations and discussions: waste materials from the food industry as raw materials for biotechnology. From orange peels to apple scraps or oil cakes from oil seeds, the range of available materials is as broad as their possible applications. Scientists in research and industry report on existing uses and new methods. “BiobasedWorld at BIOTECHNICA covers the gamut from the Innovation in Food Marketplace to the Industrial Biotechnology Marketplace,” explains Köckler. “Food and industrial biotech companies are able to participate as exhibitors. The Marketplaces offer exhibitors in these areas an ideal setting for forming new business contacts.”
DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology brings together experts from a wide range of disciplines, institutions and generations to stimulate scientific exchange in chemical engineering, process engineering and biotechnology.
DECHEMA Ausstellungs-GmbH pools DECHEMA’s technical, organizational and content expertise to organize capital goods trade fairs. Under the BiobasedWorld brand, DECHEMA Ausstellungs-GmbH organizes events alone or with partners to bring together potential partners from academia and industry to share experiences and information. Partnering events for the sector are among their main offers.
BIOTECHNICA – Europe’s leading trade fair for biotechnology, the life sciences and laboratory equipment – opens its doors to the public for the 20th time from 8 to 10 October 2013 in Hannover. Major display categories include bio-process technology, bio-analysis and bioinformatics, as well as biotechnological applications in pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biomedicine, food, agriculture, industrial production and environmental technology. In a series of themed “marketplaces” focusing on industrial biotechnology, food biotechnology, bio-services and personalized medicine, BIOTECHNICA explores the key trends currently shaping the industry. The trade show is accompanied by various international conferences and workshops. The official Partner Country in 2013 is Switzerland.
