X Anniversary International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies Concluded with a Great Success

On 17-19 September 2019 the Exhibition Center “ACCO International” hosted theInternational Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for the Pharmaceutical Industry PHARMATechExpo. It is the only exhibition in Ukraine that presents the whole process of pharmaceutical production – from the development of substances and quality control of raw material, equipment for production of pharmaceutical products and packaging technologies to transportation, storage of medical products and recruitment.

 

At PHARMATechExpo 2019 one could see how a medicinal product “is born” and what equipment is used for the entire manufacturing process: how a drug substance is produced and how the quality of raw materials, manufacture and packaging are controlled, and how products are transported and stored and have a look at pharmaceutical technological innovations.

The opening ceremony was attended by ParthaSatpathy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Ukraine, VolodymyrKorolenko, chief deputy of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drug Control, ValeriiKorol, vice-president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Oleg Rozhkevych, the first vice-president of the Association of Employers of Medical and Microbiological Industries of Ukraine.

PHARMATechExpo 2019 brought together major players of the pharmaceutical market, ensuring the opportunity to have a look at domestic and international pharmaceutical developments and to visit the exposition of the most famous brands, trademarks of equipment and most advanced pharmaceutical technologies.

FOR THE FIRST TIME in Ukraine the national exhibit of India was arranged with the support of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). EXHIBITIONS&TRADE SERVICES INDIA PVT LTD (ETSIPL) was an exclusive international partner.

 

The collective exhibit was presented by over 45 Indian companies manufacturing equipment for pharmaceutical production, raw materials, packaging equipment, conditioning systems, cooling and ventilation systems, intelligent surveillance and automation control systems for industrial robotics, water treatment systems, air driers, outdoor air supply systems, energy recovery systems, vacuum transportation systems and companies that offered integrated solutions for pharmaceutical businesses.

This is the first time when the INTERNATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL CONGRESStook place. It is a unique platform to join theory and practice of manufacturing processes. The visitors had an opportunity to obtain knowledge and new experience at science-to-practice conferences, seminars, trainings, master classes, using new equipment.

 

At the first day,the Ukrainian Scientific Pharmacopoeial Center for Quality of Medicines held scientific and practical conference “Important Issues of Pharmacopoeial Control of the Quality of Medicines” for the representatives of manufacturing enterprises, regulatory and supervisory bodies and specialists in quality control of pharmaceutical products.

 

The panel discussion “The role of pharmaceutical control in a company” organized by Expoforum was a quite motivating, there quality control managers, directors, specialists of control (supply) departments and experts in pharmaceutical control discussed the main problems related to the collection of information regarding negative consequences of the use of medicines, talked about the procedures safety related to the distribution of medicines and shared the information, where specialists in pharmaceutical control got trained.

 

UKRMEDCERT brought together the producers of active pharmaceutical ingredients, the heads of pharmaceutical production plants, heads and specialists of pharmaceutical quality control departments at seminars “Practical Aspects of Audit of API Manufacturers” and“Medical Products at the Market of Ukraine: an authorized representative and analysis of risks”. The attendees consideredthe specifics of audit of pharmaceutical enterprises and analysis of medical products and got professional advice from the leading experts.

 

The heads and specialists of management and quality control departments attended scientific and practical conference “Quality Assurance of Medicines: Regulatory Requirements and Effective Standards” organized by Public Health Department and Pharmaceutical Department at the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, where the general principles of pharmaceutical drug development, the requirements for soft drugs and liquid pharmaceutical research, the availability and transparency of regulatory procedures in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

No less important issues were addressed at the seminar “Minimizing the Risks of the Pharmaceutical Enterprise through the Implementation of the Environmental Management System” organized by LLC “Standards for Technology Development”. Environmental impact specialists discussed the general requirements of ISO 14001, environmental goals, aspects, staffing requirements, monitoring, audit and other important issues.

 

Also, pharmaceutical workers had the opportunity to discuss the draft of order by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine “On Approval of the Procedure for the Confirmation of the Compliance of Production of Medicines with the Requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice" and to consider new approaches to the classification of GMP nonconformities - PIC / SPI 040-1 guidance at the conference “Implementation of the Ukrainian legislation under the requirements of the EU, PIC / S to confirm compliance of the conditions of production of medicines with the requirements of good manufacturing practice "organized by SE “Ukrainian Pharmaceutical Quality Institute“.

 

The second day, the heads of pharmaceutical businesses, R&D departments and related departments, including technologists, employees of quality control, development and production control laboratories attended a scientific and practical conference organized by CHEMLABORREACTIV on “Modern solutions for pharmaceutical companies”, where they discussed the issues of the GMP clean areas and premises, LIMS information systems for data integrity, process modeling equipment and more.

 

Chief engineers and technologists attended the workshop “Ventilation of Industrial Premises” by IVC “LeoCon Group”, where the attendees discussed the systems of ventilation and air conditioning of clean rooms, as well as regulatory requirements and practical solutions of climate chambers to test the stability of medicines.

 

The issue of serialization and aggregation was tackled at the seminar “Track & Trace in Ukraine” organized by WIPOTEC-OCS GmbH. Specialists discussed the basic aspects of serialization and aggregation and learned how to use the necessary hardware and software.

 

The Ukrainian Scientific Institute of Certification gathered a lot of specialists at the seminar “Medical devices in the nomenclature of pharmaceutical manufacturers. Conformity assessment of in vitro diagnostic medical devices”, where manufacturers and suppliers of medical devices in the Ukrainian market considered the procedure of self-declaration, received a step-by-step description of the conformity assessment procedure through a comprehensive audit of the quality management system, discussed supervisory audits for EU certificates issued and other no less important issues.

 

For the manufacturers of medicines, technologists, engineers, managers and employees of the departments of quality control of pharmaceutical products of the GS “Ukrainian Agency for Health Technology Assessment” organized a seminar “Health Technology Assessment”. How to Assess the Clinical and Pharmacoeconomic Effectiveness of Medicines”, which showed budget risks without applying the NTA methodology, considered examples of the economic benefits of using NTA, and demonstrated how to use NTA methodology in everyday manufacturing, marketing, and drug practice.

 

Also, the workshop “Design and Pharmaceutical Engineering” organized by FAVEA ENGINEERING KYIV was successfully held, the leading pharmaceutists discussed the adoption of the new Industry 4.0 standard, digitization of product data at the stages of development, production and operation pursuant to the ISPE approach and gave examples from practice.

The owners and heads of pharmaceutical companies, heads of departments for production, quality and operational improvements attended the seminar “The Technologies Lean (Kaizen, Lean Production) in the organization of pharmaceutical production. How to Get more for less?” organized byIMBS. Specialists examined the Lean Manufacturing Approach (LEAN, Kaizen) and the Toyota Production System, discussed the day-to-day losses in manufacturing and supply processes, the main techniques, tools and challenges of implementing LEAN, discussed key success factors and key building steps, and shared examples of successful LEAN implementation in pharmaceutical and other manufacturing companies.

 

Texa held a seminar “Bruker spectrometric systems for the analysis of quality of pharmaceutical products” for the heads and employees of pharmaceutical laboratories and specialists of control and analytical laboratories, whiche tackled the issues of quality control of raw materials and products, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, OPUS software, IR-Fourier analysis and many other issues.

 

The International Pharmaceutical Congress is included into the List of Meetings, Congresses, Symposiums and Research-to-Practice conferences that will take place in 2019 approved by the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The participants of research and practical events of the Congress were granted with Certificates of Skills Development.
