Successful Conclusion of Centralized Model Selection and Procurement of Medical Consumables for Medical Institutions of Military and Armed Police Forces Stationed in Beijing

Recently, after visiting "2007 International Medical Instruments and Equipment Exhibition", the Organizing Committee of Centralized Procurement of Medicine and Medical Consumables for Military and Armed Police Forces Stationed in Beijing examined and released the results of centralized model selection of medical consumables in 2007. It includes 11 categories, 83 sub-categories and 12367 products, covering over 85% of frequently used medical consumables as well as all third-class implantation (intervention) medical consumables under key supervision by international authorities.

To ensure the clinic safety of medical consumables and the standardization of procurement management, medical institutions of military and armed police forces stationed in Beijing strictly abide by related national and military regulations according to the direction of leaders of General Logistics Department, PLA. Since 2002, centralized model selection and procurement have been organized for 6 consecutive years. Starting from 2005, China Med marks out a specialized "Medical Consumables Pavilion" for centralized model selection and procurement, attracting more than 100 outstanding enterprises. In 2007, the exhibition area of this pavilion has increased to 2000㎡, while procurement scope has also expanded from 6 to 11 categories and transaction amount from RMB 60 million to RMB 600 million, generating remarkable military, social and economic benefits.

Successful Conclusion of the Press Conference of China Med 2008

The press conference of the 20th International Medical Instruments and Equipment Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as China Med 2008) was successfully held in China World Hotel, Beijing, on Aug. 31, 2007. China Med 2008 presented itself in a brand-new image and welcomed representatives of around 50 domestic and foreign exhibitors, 30 trade and mass media representatives, foreign embassies and consulates, as well as overseas agencies of China Med, who were elaborated on the very essence of the brand new China Med – Beating of Heart – Technological Innovation, Care for Life.

On behalf of organizers, Mr. Yuan Yonglin, Undersecretary of Health Department of General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Mr. Ren Guoquan, Director General of Drugs and Equipment Bureau of Health Department of the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, Mr. Zhong Rongmin, Vice General Manager of China World Trade Center Co., Ltd., Mr. Cui Zhenfang, General Manager of Hui Tong Xingye International Exhibition (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Mr. Tony Fung, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf China Ltd. delivered key-note speeches on the industrial environment of medical businesses, with a broad coverage of areas such as status quo of Chinese medical market, industrial policy reform, military procurement reform, latest development in overseas medical industry, overseas advanced technologies and product highlights as well as enhancement of self-research capabilities by Chinese enterprises in fierce international competition. Mr. Yuan Yonglin particularly pointed out that based on successful experience of the previous 19 editions of the event, China Med should also attach greater importance to the role of academic exchanges in promoting industrial development, in addition to the showcasing of products.

The press conference was overwhelmed by a warm atmosphere. Attendees proactively exchanged ideas with organizers and raised various questions in search of more in-depth information, concerning the procurement method of military hospitals for medical consumables, medicine and medical equipment as well as the contents and participation method of academic activities.

China Med 2008 will be held at China International Exhibition Center, Beijing, during Apr. 3–5, 2008. Total exhibition area is estimated to reach 30,000 sqm, and more than 600 domestic and overseas enterprises and 28,000 visitors are predicted to participate or visit the event.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, China Med 2008 coincides with the glorious event of 2008 Beijing Olympics. Under the theme of "Technological Innovation, Care for Life", China Med links itself with the procurement planning of military medical equipment, providing a platform for concentrated evaluation of medical equipment configuration applications. The exhibition is closely combined with international bidding for procurement of medical equipment and model selection of medical consumables for PLA, boasting a total value of about 1.5 billion RMB yuan. Besides, China Med 2008 will feature more academic seminars and conferences in order to expand and improve the range and level of academic and technical exchanges.

With the goal of advancing technological innovation and passing on the concept of Care for Life, China Med will spare no effort in pursuing an even greater success.
