Event Report

BIT's 5th Symposium on Enzymes & Biocatalysis-2014 (SEB-2014), successfully held in Shangri-La hotel Dalian on April 25-27, 2014. Totally, there were nearly 200 participants from more than 30 countries and areas have attended the SEB-2014.

As the keynote speakers, Dr. Bruno Jarry,Member of Academic of Technologies of France; President, Biotechnology Committee, National Academy of Technology of France, France; Dr. Araz Raoof, Vice President, Janssen Research and Development, Belgium; Dr. René Labatut, Vice President Global Manufacturing Technology, Sanofi Pasteur, France ; Dr. Byong H. Lee, Distinguished Professor, School of Biotechnology, Jiangnan University, China and Adjunct Professor, Food Science/Agric Chemistry, McGill University, Canada; Dr. Henk-Jan Joosten, Director, Bio-Prodict BV, The Netherlands made excellent presentations and warmly discussed with the audiences at keynote forum.

10 sessions covered 8 fields including Enzyme/Biocatalyst Discovery, Structure-Function Analysis and Modeling of Biocatalysis and Biocatalysis in Regioelective and Biomimetic Chemical Reactions, Biocatalysis in Click-Chemistry and Resolution of Racemates and Enzyme Biosensor, Enzyme & Biocatalyst Bioprocessing Hard, Enzymes for Novel Biocatalysts and Agricultural/Sideline Products, Plants and Animals and Environmental Remediation, Soil, Specialty Enzymes for Food, Pulp and Paper, Textile and Leather, Dairy, Brewing, Detergent and Cosmetics, Emerging Hot Enzyme Targets for Server Disease Drug Discovery, Discovery of Next Generation Enzyme Therapy; Inaugurate Forum of Enzymes and Diseases and Science of Kinases and so on. With the mission to initiate a sustainable platform for exchanging up-to-the-minute upstream and downstream achievements, industrial needs and research opportunities of industrial biotechnology fields in Asia Pacific Rim, participants from academic, industrial professionals and key-decision makers delivered the new achievement on their research, together discussed and analyzed the development of Enzymes and Biocatalysis. The conference has promoted the communication of colleagues and collaboration of partners from the upstream to the downstream of Enzymes and Biocatalysis.

Depending on the warmly support and good suggestions from all of the participants, we are confident in organizing SEB-2015 which would be better and more successful than SEB-2014.
