– 4th AMI-4 Conference in Hannover on 9 October
Hannover. Medical imaging is acquiring ever greater importance and is helping to transform healthcare. The latest ideas and developments in medical imaging will be on the agenda at the 4th AMI-4Europe Conference. This event takes place on Wednesday 9 October at BIOTECHNICA 2013, Europe’s No.1 Event for Biotechnology, Life Sciences and Lab Technology. International experts, researchers and decision-makers from this rapidly expanding sector will gather here to exchange ideas and evaluate current trends.
Medical imaging (MI) has exerted a sustained impact on the healthcare sector. This has not only led to significant improvements in diagnosis and therapy, but has also changed the way medical professionals think about diseases and their underlying causes. Medical imaging has a decisive influence on the provision of care, quality standards and the general structure of the healthcare system.
Thanks to a stream of innovations in recent years, medical imaging has become more precise and less invasive. This has led to a substantial expansion in medical imaging applications. Whereas in the past MI was regarded primarily as a diagnostic tool, it now plays a significant role in the treatment and prediction of diseases.
The pace of developments shows no sign of slowing. The next generation of medical imaging systems is already poised to enter the marketplace. These new systems will capitalize on the interdisciplinary integration of nanomedicine, pharmaceutical research, biotechnology and ICT.
The topics on the agenda at the 4th AMI-4Europe Conference will include “Molecular Imaging”, “Monitoring Disorders” and “Data Processing”. The conference is aimed primarily at experts involved in research/development/production, clinical application, image and data processing, as well as e-health, nanomedicine and industrial biotechnology. The event has been organized by AMI-4Europe, a European project which unites all the relevant MI players with the aim of establishing a newly defined EU-wide value chain.
AMI is short for “Advanced Medical Imaging“. The activities of AMI-4Europe include workshops and roundtables devoted to future issues in medical imaging, plus the organization of European conferences at which researchers, political decision-makers and major interest groups get together to present and discuss innovative solutions and ideas. The AMI-4Europe project is targeted at political decision-makers, researchers, SMEs and medical professionals who want to contribute actively to shaping the “next generation” in medical imaging.
