CELLTech 2013

CELLTech 2013, 22-23 January, 2013, San Diego, United States

Welcome to the inaugural CellTech2013 conference and exhibition. SelectBio has re-branded the Stem Cells World Congress / Circulating Tumour Cells / Cell Culture meeting for 2013 and expanded the scope of the event to include five conference tracks, bringing together all the key stakeholders in this space, to enhance the overall experience of attendees:

The Tracks:
     ◆ Cell-based Assays
     ◆ Flow Cytometry
     ◆ Cell Culture
     ◆ Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs)
     ◆ Cancer & Stem Cells

Cell-based Assays  –
There is constant demand to refine this powerful research tool.  This conference will present the latest information on how to improve the accuracy of this technique - including optimising cellular conditions, developing quantitative technologies and enhancement of biomarkers.  Speakers will focus on the ways in which this technique facilitates research in numerous therapeutic areas, notably stem cells and oncology.

Keynote Speakers:
Hakim Djaballah
Director, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Stephen Minger
Global Head R&D, GE Healthcare Life Sciences

Agenda Topics

     ◆ Apoptosis Assays
◆ Assays for Phenotypic Changes: Invasion, Migration, Angiogenesis
◆ Case Studies from Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Companies
◆ Elements of Assay Development: A Nuts-and-Bolts Perspective
     ◆ High-Content Analysis (HCA) Assays
     ◆ Instrumentation for Cell-based Assays
     ◆ Metabolism-monitoring Assays
◆ Morphology Changes as a Readout
◆ Reporter Gene Assays and their Utility for Drug Discovery Projects

Cancer & Stem Cells
SelectBio has designed this conference track to bring together researchers and industry participants focusing on the utility of stem cells for the treatment of various types of cancer.

There is much interest in the field to use stem cells for treating hematological as well as solid tumors.  HSCTs using bone marrow, PBLs, and cord blood have paved the way for such treatments to be possible and successful.

We examine, in this conference track, the basic and translational research studies being performed to bring stem cells to the oncology field. We also examine cancer stem cells (CSCs), an often controversial topic, but nevertheless important for understanding cancer propagation at the basic level, and also as a means to target tumors.

Keynote Speakers:
Karen Aboody
Associate Professor, City of Hope National Med Center and Beckman Research Institute
Ellen Feigal
Senior Vice President, The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine

Agenda Topics

◆ Clinical Trials Focusing on Targeting Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs)

◆ Preventing Cell Line Cross Contamination

Circulating Tumor Cells –

Our 2nd annual Circulating Tumour Cells 2012 conference is expanding on the interest expressed in the CTC sessions of our very popular Single Cell Analysis conferences.

With oncologists increasingly using CTCs to gather prognostic information on their patients, it is more and more apparent that CTCs can offer clinicians a non-invasive means of sampling for genetic markers, monitoring treatment responsiveness, aiding in treatment decision-making and indicating novel drug targets.

However, there are still issues and questions being raised about the clinical significance of CTCs, as well as the need to improve sensitivity, reproducibility and reliability of their use in disease monitoring. To solve these problems there is a real need for increased collaboration and understanding if the industry is to effectively use CTCs to improve cancer survival rates and provide significant cost-savings.

The Circulating Tumor Cells 2012 conference offers delegates 2 days of world class speakers who are at the forefront of the field and whose talks will be exploring, as well as attempting to answer, some of these CTC questions.
