Eppendorf Award 2027: Applications Open for Young Researchers in Europe

Hamburg, Germany, October 01, 2026 - Applications are now open for the 2027 Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators. The €20,000 award recognizes outstanding contributions to biomedical research and is presented in collaboration with the scientific journal Nature.
 
Researchers who hold a Ph.D., are no older than 35 at the time of application and conduct their research in Europe are eligible to apply. The application deadline is January 15, 2027: www.eppendorf.com/award/application.
 
The award recognizes research in molecular, cellular, systems, or organismal biology, as well as innovative analytical concepts. The award ceremony will take place at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg, Germany.
 
The potential of awardwinning research to shape the future is demonstrated by the 2026 award recipient, Dr. Martin Pačesa. He received the award for his work on AIassisted de novo design of functional protein binders.
 
The recipient of the 2027 Eppendorf Award will be selected by an independent jury chaired by Laura Machesky of the University of Cambridge, UK. Information on eligibility requirements, the selection process, and how to apply is available at www.eppendorf.com/award.
 
About the Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators
Since 1995, the Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators has been presented annually to an earlycareer researcher in Europe who is no older than 35 at the time of application. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to biomedical research in Europe based on laboratory methods in molecular, cellular, systems, or organismal biology  including novel analytical concepts. The recipient is selected by an independent jury of experts chaired by Professor Laura Machesky of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, UK. The Eppendorf Award for Young European Investigators is presented in collaboration with the scientific journal Nature.
