Eppendorf Launches New Refrigerated Centrifuge 5811 R
Hits:14 Date: 9/8/2026
• The Centrifuge 5811 R succeeds the globally trusted Centrifuge 5810 R.
• It retains the proven performance and versatility of its predecessor while introducing a new design and updated sustainable cooling technology.
Hamburg, Germany, September 08, 2026 – Eppendorf is launching the new Centrifuge 5811 R, a refrigerated, multipurpose benchtop centrifuge designed to support a wide range of laboratory workflows. It builds on the proven performance and versatility of the Centrifuge 5810 R.
Known and loved in laboratories around the world for many decades, the Centrifuge 5810 R has received an impactful update. The Centrifuge 5811 R combines a new design and refreshed user interface with a significant update to its cooling technology. It retains the dependable performance and versatility laboratories value while adding selected new features for efficient, repeatable operation.
The Centrifuge 5811 R uses R290 propane as a refrigerant. With a global warming potential of 0.02 and an ozone depletion potential of 0, this cooling technology can support laboratory sustainability goals. ECO shut-off, energy-efficient FastTemp, and aerodynamic bucket designs help reduce power use during operation.
The backbone of your discovery
“The refrigerated Centrifuge 5811 R is a benchtop system for labs where a single centrifuge needs to support many workflows in parallel”, Dr. Tim Schommarzt, Global Marketing Manager, Eppendorf Group. “Tubes in the morning, plates in the afternoon, bottles for the next experiment – the Centrifuge 5811 R brings this capacity together in one reliable instrument. It combines broad rotor flexibility, high capacity, and sustainable cooling technology in a compact footprint that fits into virtually any lab.”
With a capacity of up to 3 L and speeds of up to 20,913 x g (14,000 rpm), the Centrifuge 5811 R supports a wide range of vessel types within a single benchtop footprint. Its portfolio includes 15 rotors and a broad selection of adapters. Swing-bucket and fixed-angle rotors, together with mixed bucket loading, allow users to combine different formats in one run. This makes it easier to adapt when vessels, applications or protocols change.
The centrifuge supports applications including the harvesting and processing of cells, bacteria, yeast, algae and other microorganisms. It can also be used for nucleic acid and protein purification, as well as peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) isolation.
