INDONESIA’S LABORATORY INDUSTRY IS GROWING RAPIDLY, LAB INDONESIA 2026 SHOWCASES INNOVATION AND GLOBAL COLLABORATION
Tangerang, 1 April 2026 - The return of the biennial Lab Indonesia exhibition comes at a time when laboratories are gaining greater recognition as critical scientific infrastructure that supports research, innovation, and industrial development across sectors. In Indonesia, demand for laboratory services and technologies continues to rise, driven by the growth of the manufacturing industry and various national programs aimed at improving production quality, strengthening quality control, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Currently, there are more than 10,500 public health laboratories across Indonesia, while the national clinical laboratory market is projected to reach over USD 3.1 billion by 2027.
Reflecting this momentum, Lab Indonesia 2026 is set to take place on April 15-17 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD city, under the theme “Shaping the Future of Indonesia’s Laboratory Industry: Innovation, Standards, and Global Competitiveness.” Now in its 8th edition, Lab Indonesia has grown into one of Indonesia's leading laboratory trade exhibitions, showcasing chemical products that encompass pharmaceutical, education, and scientific research sectors. Beyond exhibition, Lab Indonesia also serves as a strategic business platform that brings together innovations, discoveries, and laboratory technologies to meet the needs of an ever-evolving industry.
This development aligns with the rapid growth of the global laboratory technology market, which is projected to grow from USD 258.71 billion in 2023 to approximately USD 468.15 billion by 2032. In this increasingly competitive landscape, collaboration among industry players, regulators, and academic institutions is becoming increasingly important in driving innovation and enhancing national competitiveness.
With its move to ICE BSD City, Lab Indonesia 2026 will expand in scale, occupying more than 14,500 square meters and targeting more than 300 exhibiting companies alongside approximately 15,000 professional visitors from various sectors. Four international pavilions from China, Germany, Korea, and Malaysia are also scheduled to participate, followed by leading companies from 16 countries and regions — China, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United States, and the United Kingdom — reflecting a growing global interest in the development of Indonesia’s laboratory industry.
Kristi Wulandari, Deputy Event Director of PT Pamerindo Indonesia and organizer of Lab Indonesia 2026, expressed her optimism about this year’s event, particularly regarding the new venue, which is expected to attract broader industry participation. “The significant participation of international companies attending Lab Indonesia 2026 demonstrates that Indonesia is increasingly viewed as a key market for the laboratory technology industry. We hope Lab Indonesia can serve as a collaborative space that brings together global innovation with the needs of industry and research in Indonesia,” she emphasized.
With participation from companies across the globe, Lab Indonesia is positioned as a key meeting point for industry players to explore collaboration opportunities, expand business networks, and gain insights into Indonesia’s rapidly evolving laboratory market.
This strong international interest and participation are further evidenced by exhibitor satisfaction from previous editions. “We believe that the future of Indonesia’s laboratories depends on their ability to deliver accurate, reliable results that meet regulatory standards, while continuing to improve efficiency and adopt cutting-edge analytical technologies. Through our participation in Lab Indonesia 2026, we aim to demonstrate our commitment to this transformation. As participants, we are here to collaborate with various clients and stakeholders to help drive higher standards of laboratory excellence across Indonesia,” said Saptogiri, Managing Director of PT Wiralab Analitika Solusindo. In addition to Wiralab, approximately 53% of returning exhibitors have expressed interest in participating again in Lab Indonesia 2026, indicating that the exhibition is increasingly perceived as a strategic platform for the laboratory market in Indonesia.
The exhibitor lineup highlights the dominance of companies specializing in laboratory instruments and scientific equipment – key components in modern laboratory operations. Additionally, related solutions for laboratory consumables, laboratory testing, research & development, as well as quality assurance and quality control are expected to draw significant attention. The presence of technologies in biotechnology, environmental testing, and pharmaceutical testing also reflects the growing demand for laboratory analysis systems that are more precise, efficient, and compliant with global standards.
These dynamics were reflected in the business activities generated during the previous event. In 2024, the business matching program connected over 150 buyers with exhibitors and generated more than 720 business meetings. Compared to the previous edition (2022), the number of buyers increased by 12.6%, while the number of business meetings rose by 24.7%, demonstrating growing interest in collaboration opportunities facilitated by Lab Indonesia.
In addition to showcasing various global laboratory technology companies, Lab Indonesia 2026 will serve as a discussion forum for industry stakeholders, regulators, and the scientific community to discuss the future direction of laboratory development in Indonesia. In previous editions, programs such as LabForum (International Scientific Conference) and LabTalk (Technical Seminar, Industry Workshop & Live Demonstration) not only facilitated scientific discussions but also led to cross-institutional research collaborations, joint publications, and accelerated technology transfer to local laboratories. Lab Indonesia is also bringing back the One-to-One Business Matching program to open opportunities for cooperation and strategic partnerships among industry players.
Several experts and institutional representatives confirmed to attend Lab Indonesia 2026 have emphasized the importance of standards, innovation, and research in strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s laboratory sector, while highlighting the exhibition’s role as a platform to facilitate these efforts.
A similar sentiment was shared by Afrizal, Chairman of Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI) Jakarta. “Indonesia possesses great potential, such as biodiversity, mineral resources, and a talented young workforce, yet it still faces challenges such as reliance on imported equipment, limited commercialization of research, fragmentation among institutions, and a lack of collaboration with industry,” said the representative. “To address these issues, an integrated research pipeline is needed—spanning universities, standard laboratories, and industry—to achieve global recognition, along with HKI’s strategic role in competency certification, facilitating collaboration, and standardizing methods. Furthermore, collaboration between industry and academia, along with media support, is key to transforming chemistry laboratories into innovation hubs on the path to Indonesia Emas 2045.”
Wahyu Purbowasito, Deputy for Accreditation of the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and the Secretary of the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), also expressed his support for Lab Indonesia as a biennial event. “Currently, the Lab Indonesia is not merely a venue for buyers and clients to meet regarding transactions involving laboratory equipment and supporting materials, but it has also evolved into a platform for updating on the latest laboratory technology advancements, customer engagement, and sharing experiences on all matters—including method updates. This serves as a platform that fills a gap in laboratory management to make it more effective and efficient. BSN – KAN welcomes this event and actively supports its implementation. Lab Indonesia can serve as a model of effective government-to-business (G-to-B) collaboration to drive national development through the strengthening of national quality infrastructure, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian products on the global stage,” he explained.
More than showcase of laboratory technology, Lab Indonesia features a variety of programs that provide insights into the latest trends, developments in standards, and industry opportunities. Through collaboration on a single platform, Lab Indonesia 2026 strengthens its role as a bridge between research, technology, and industry in supporting the development of Indonesia’s laboratory ecosystem.
