BD Buys Dynacon's Lab Systems Business

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Becton Dickinson said today that its BD Diagnostics segment has acquired Dynacon’s Lab Systems business, which offers microbiology specimen-processing technologies, for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase of the business from privately held Dynacon, which closed on March 29, gives BD Diagnostics two new products, the InocuLab system for processing microbial specimens and the Innova Preanalytical Automated Microbiology Specimen Processor, which is a higher-throughput, automated version of the InocuLab.

BD said that the Innova System accommodates the “full range of microbiology specimen containers, streak patterns, protocols, and workflows.”

Dynacon’s CEO Peter Hughes said that the Innova and the InnocuLab platforms “complement perfectly” BD’s product line in infectious disease testing.
