Applications:
The DJ-GC02 Plant Canopy Analyzer uses a fisheye lens and a CCD image sensor to capture canopy images. Specialized software analyzes these images to calculate key parameters such as Leaf Area Index (LAI), average leaf inclination angle, and diffuse radiation transmittance. The instrument automatically levels the digital camera to capture 180° canopy images. Only one image is needed per measurement, simplifying the traditional energy-based method that requires multiple measurements throughout the day. It also allows users to avoid obstacles and select optimal measurement points. Lightweight and easy to operate, it does not require carrying a bulky laptop computer. The analyzer is widely used in agricultural science, forestry, and plant structure analysis for studying the relationship between leaf area index and crop production, forest canopy indicators, growth monitoring of crops and trees, changes in LAI at different latitudes, environmental impacts on plants, and field measurements of crop canopies, forests, and low-growing plants.
Features:
- Measures canopy Leaf Area Index (LAI), average leaf inclination angle, and light transmittance ratio
- Automatic lens leveling eliminates errors caused by manual leveling
- Single image capture; measurements are not affected by weather or lighting conditions
- No need for a clear sky reference or top-of-canopy reference measurement
- User-defined number of zenith and azimuth angle zones
- Sky and leaf color filtering available for analysis
- Ability to mask or exclude unwanted image areas (e.g., human shadows, sky) that may affect calculation results
- Captures, displays, and stores color canopy images on-site; analysis software supports both automatic (OTSU) and manual threshold adjustment
