DHX8 is a member of the DEAH box polypeptide family. The encoded protein contains the DEAH (Asp-Glu-Ala-His) motif which is characteristic of all DEAH box proteins, and is thought to function as an ATP-dependent RNA helicase that regulates the release of spliced mRNAs from spliceosomes prior to their export from the nucleus. This protein may be required for the replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Mouse ATP-dependent RNA helicase DHX8 (DHX8) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate DHX8 in samples. An antibody specific for DHX8 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyDHX8 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for DHX8 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of DHX8 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
