Mannose 6-phophate receptors (MPRs) deliver lysosomal hydrolase from the Golgi to endosomes and then return to the Golgi complex. The protein encoded by PLIN3 interacts with the cytoplasmic domains of both cation-independent and cation-dependent MPRs, and is required for endosome-to-Golgi transport. This protein also binds directly to the GTPase RAB9 (RAB9A), a member of the RAS oncogene family. The interaction with RAB9 has been shown to increase the affinity of this protein for its cargo. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for PLIN3.

Human Perilipin-3 (M6PRBP1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate M6PRBP1 in samples. An antibody specific for M6PRBP1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyM6PRBP1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for M6PRBP1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of M6PRBP1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
