A big portion of our clients request us to perform LacZ staining of transgenic mouse embryos at their specified stages for subsequent examination of transgene expression patterns of LacZ controlled by regulatory elements under interrogation. Usually, we would fix the embryos, LacZ stain the embryos, put the embryos into individually labeled vials, and ship the embryos to our clients. For older embryos, clients might request us to take out certain organs or dissect embryos in to several parts to achieve more thorough staining. We also perform PCR genotyping on DNA extracted from yolk sacs to determine embryos that carry transgenes.
