BackgroundEpigen, human (EPGN) is a member of the epidermal growth factor family. EPGN is ligands for the epidermal growth factor receptor and play a role in cell survival, proliferation and migration. EPGN Promotes the growth of epithelial cells. May stimulate the phosphorylation of EGFR and mitogen-activated protein kinases. The precursor of EPG is a widely expressed transmembrane glycoprotein that undergoes cleavage at two sites to release a soluble EGF-like domain. EPGN might represent the last EGF-like growth factor and define a category of low affinity ligands, whose bioactivity differs from the more extensively studied high affinity ligands. Recombinant EPGN is expressed by Escherichia coli, composed of 72 (Ala24-Ala95) amino acids. bio-equip.cn
