Background

Angiotensin - converting enzyme (ACE) is a crucial enzyme in the body's renin - angiotensin - aldosterone system (RAAS). It plays a key role in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance. ACE is mainly found in the lungs, but is also present in other tissues. Functionally, ACE converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II, a powerful vasoconstrictor.
