BackgroundPDLIM7, also known as LMP1 or Enigma, is a protein encoded by the PDLIM7 gene and belongs to the family of PDZ-LIM proteins. It contains a PDZ domain and three LIM domains, which are involved in protein-protein interactions. The PDZ domain binds to actin filaments, while the LIM domains interact with protein kinases. PDLIM7 functions as an intracellular scaffold protein and acts as an adapter, localizing LIM-binding proteins to actin filaments in both skeletal muscle and nonmuscle tissues. It is involved in various biological processes, including the assembly of actin filament-associated complexes essential for signaling, regulation of mesenchymal stem cell osteogenesis, and promotion of cell proliferation. In thyroid cancer, PDLIM7 is overexpressed in a stage-dependent manner and interacts with pathways such as PI3K/AKT, MDM2, and BMP-1, suggesting its potential role in cancer progression. bio-equip.cn
