BackgroundRRBP1, also known as ribosome-binding protein 1, is a membrane-bound protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and is critical for ribosome binding. It plays a role in ER proliferation, secretory pathways, and secretory cell differentiation, as well as mediating ER-microtubule interactions. Alternative splicing of RRBP1 results in protein isoforms with different ribosome-binding affinities and secretory functions. This protein is also implicated in various cancers, such as oral squamous cell carcinoma, cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and colorectal cancer, where its expression is often associated with disease progression and prognosis. Recent studies have shown that RRBP1 regulates blood pressure and potassium homeostasis by modulating intracellular renin trafficking. Additionally, it has been identified as a novel peroxisomal biogenesis factor in human cells. bio-equip.cn
