BackgroundPPIF/Cyclophilin F protein is a member of the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family, which catalyzes the isomerization of proline imide peptide bonds in oligopeptides, thereby accelerating protein folding. It is a critical component of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) in the inner mitochondrial membrane, and its activation is associated with the induction of apoptotic and necrotic cell death. Cyclophilin F also interacts with mitochondrial p53/TP53 to activate necrosis induced by oxidative stress and regulates mitochondrial membrane F(1)F(0) ATP synthase activity. Additionally, it has anti-apoptotic activity independent of mPTP, cooperating with BCL2 to inhibit cytochrome c-dependent apoptosis. bio-equip.cn
