BackgroundPI3 Kinase p85 beta is a regulatory subunit of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) complex, which is crucial for generating 3-phosphorylated phosphoinositides that initiate a wide range of signaling pathways. Unlike its counterpart p85 alpha, p85 beta has both overlapping and unique functions. While p85 beta alone does not significantly impact B cell development, it can partially compensate for the loss of p85 alpha in B cell development and peripheral survival. Additionally, p85 beta has been shown to have distinct effects on apoptosis and may play a role in oncogenic transformation in certain cell types. Its presence is essential for maintaining proper signaling balance, as its deletion can lead to increased BCR-mediated proliferation and altered ERK phosphorylation. bio-equip.cn
