BackgroundMYPT1, or Myosin Phosphatase Targeting Subunit 1, is a regulatory subunit that binds to the catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) to form the myosin phosphatase (MP) complex. This complex is crucial for the dephosphorylation of myosin light chains, which regulates muscle contraction and relaxation. MYPT1 acts as a tumor suppressor in various cancers. It inhibits tumor progression by regulating gene expression and modulating the activity of oncogenic pathways. For instance, in prostate cancer, reduced MYPT1 expression is associated with increased tumor angiogenesis and poor patient prognosis. Similarly, in non-small cell lung cancer, MYPT1 regulated by miR-19b-3p inhibits tumor progression. bio-equip.cn
